COMMUNAUTS is a social business in Uganda. It was established to produce sauces and jams from local agricultural produce with the goal of replacing imported products.

The East African country is home to some of the continent's most exciting natural wonders. Mountain Gorillas roam the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, chimpanzees hide in the dense woods of Kibaale National Park, elephants meet with hippos on the banks of the lakes and rivers in Quein Ugandaen Elizabeth National Park while the Nile characterizes the breathtaking Murchison Falls National Park.

Uganda attracts many tourists, but communities do not get the benefits of this growing industry.

Communauts is producing and selling new products in Uganda, providing employment and new value chains in the country. The main products of Communauts are chili and tomato sauces as well as an assortment of jams.

Fontana Foundation has invested in this business and has been a shareholder of Communauts since October 2020. We hope that the financing can help the business grow and become an attractive enterprise in Uganda.
